The participants with oral presentations are kindly asked to prepare a 10 minutes presentation of their papers, by means of MS PowerPoint software. Other 2 minutes are assigned to discussions for each orally presented paper, so a total of 12 minutes are assigned for each paper. We will​ appreciate if the PowerPoint presentations ​are​ sent via e-mail until 26th October to the address presentation@ehbconference.ro with the paper ID as an indicator, so our organizers can prepare these presentations in terms of time allocated, sessions and order of appearance before the conference date.

F​or the poster session​​,​ ​t​he participants ​who ​have poster presentations are asked to​ prepare a 3-4 slides PowerPoint ​file ​of their work with 5 minutes presentation. Other 2 minutes are assigned to discussions for each poster presented paper, so a total of 7 minutes are assigned for each paper. We will​ appreciate if the PowerPoint presentations ​are​ sent via e-mail until 26th October to the address presentation@ehbconference.ro with the paper ID as an indicator, so our organizers can prepare these presentations in terms of time allocated, sessions and order of appearance before the conference date.

Both presentation styles will have the same publishing regime.

Physics of Magnetic Stimulation and Therapy

Alexandru M. Morega (PhD) is professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Department of Bioengineering & Biotechnology, Faculty of Medical Engineering at the University Politehnica of Bucharest, Romania. He is Corresponding Member of the Romanian Academy and Member of the Romanian Academy of Technical Sciences.
His research interests end expertise include electromagnetism, heat and mass transfer, field-substance interactions, engineering in medicine and biology applications, energy conversion and sources, structural optimization, multiphysics modeling.

 
 

 

Mihail POPESCU, University of Missouri, Columbia, USA

Telemedicine and New Vital Signs

Mihail Popescu is a professor of biomedical informatics at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. He received a MS in Medical Physics in 1995, a MS in Electrical Engineering in 1997 and a PhD in Computer Science in 2003 from the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO. Dr. Popescu has published over 200 scientific papers. His research focus has been on elder care technologies, medical decision making, and machine learning. Dr. Popescu is a senior IEEE member.

Fabrizio Clemente (Ph.D) is currently Senior Research at National Research Council of Italy – Institute of Cristallography and Professor of Quality Control and Health Organization at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata".

He has always dealt with research and development for health. He currently promotes and coordinates several innovation projects to introduce new technologies and new organizational models in healthcare.


 
 
 
       





 

Design of devices and methods for clinical practice

Moderators: Assoc. prof. Martin Rozanek, Ph.D. and Petr Kudrna, Ph.D

About workshop:
Technological advances in the design of medical devices, development and optimization of new techniques as well as monitoring of patient biosignals (for example glucose parameters), or rehabilitation contribute to the improved safety of the patients and speeding up the healing process. Also, administration and documentation of care are easier. The workshop deals with novel methods and approaches in medical devices that could be used in the clinical practice to improve patient's outcome and to minimize the adverse effects.
The workshop will be focused on the measurement of biosignals in clinical practise, modeling and simulation in intensive care, controlling of ventilator parameters according to the end-tidal carbon dioxide concentration or saturation of blood by oxygen etc. Some of the topics are NIRS (near infrared spectroscopy) and EIT (electrical impedance tomography).

Biomechanical & Electronics Technologies with Aerospace Applications

About workshop:
The goal of the workshop is to establish a collaborative interdisciplinary research environment, by using the appropriate set of mechanical, aerospace and bio-sciences engineering knowledge in addressing problems in broad areas. Gathering specialists from all these fields of interest will result in future innovative research and cross-border studies with real impact on everyday life.

The current technological challenges of the space industry, as well as the international ESA program, bring the need for innovative research programs, requiring highly qualified experts and a broad interdisciplinary vision. The development of these technologies is possible only through intense collaboration between the technological sectors corresponding to the exact and biomedical sciences, with a broad view into new fundamental research problems that arise with every little discovery made in the aerospace field. We align with the current global trend of bringing valuable contributions, through research towards sustaining and improving life in space.

Advances in motor-recovery neurotechnology by means of Brain-Computer Interfaces, Functional Electrical Stimulation and Exoskeletons

Moderators: Prof. Marian-Silviu POBORONIUC and Lecturer Dănuț-Constantin IRIMIA

About workshop:
Assisting robotics allows patients to perform repeated movements. Such movements can stimulate the brain to regain the upper/lower limb control and the phenomenon has been termed as neuroplasticity. Recent research emphasize that electromechanical-assisted gait training in association with Functional Electrical Stimulations (FES) produced more benefits than the only robotic treatment. Brain-computer interface (BCI) is a new technology with a potential to restore, substitute, or augment lost motor behaviours in patients with neurological injuries. The workshop deals with hybrid systems which aim to combine BCI, FES and exoskeletons to induce motor-recovery in impaired people due to a lesion at central nervous system level.
